Vivian Rose the London Snuff Man

Vivian Stafford Rose (1919–2003) was a London Jewish snuff man and industry figure who had his start in 1948 as an employee of the George Smith and Sons tobacconist concern of 74 Charing Cross Road, and acquired ownership of the same the following year at the death of the previous owner and his father-in-law Harry Lewis (1892–1949). Rose also played an instrumental role in founding in 1963 the The Society of Snuff Grinders, Blenders and Purveyors (later The Society of British Snuff Blenders), which was a British snuff tobacco trade association.
